Diamond in the Ruff Pet Rescue is an animal rescue operating out of Fargo, ND. We are a 100% volunteer-run organization that depends on foster homes and generous community donations to continue saving the lives of animals.
We rescue, rehabilitate and permanently place abandoned animals. We also aim to educate the public on proper animal care, preventing breed discrimination and the importance of spaying/neutering in battling the escalating overpopulation problem. It is important to us that we have a lasting impact on the lives of the animals and people who interact with us.
We are a new organization that is working to create a foundation that can be used to save animals’ lives. Your donation could be just what we need to provide supplies to a new foster home, to help meet an animal’s special behavioral needs, or prove comfort to an animal saved from a pound.

What is the process for adopting an animal?
Before potential adopters can physically meet a foster animal outside of our open adoption events, we require them to register on our site and submit an adoption application. Check out our scheduled adoption events.
After applications are reviewed, suitable applicants are contacted to set up a Pre-Adoption Meeting with our volunteers. This meeting is designed to answer any questions adopters may have about a particular animal or our adoption process. These meetings are dependent on the availability of approved volunteers in your area.
Once the application and Pre-Adoption Meeting are complete, meet and greets with the foster animal can be scheduled with qualified applicants if this has not already occurred.
After the meet and greet (and if the applicant is still interested in the animal), foster parents will make a recommendation to the Adoption Committee regarding the adoption. The foster animal stays with the foster family until they hear from the Diamond In The Ruff adoption committee.
Adoption is approved or rejected by the Diamond In The Ruff Adoption Committee. Final approval of all adoptions is at the sole discretion of Diamond in the Ruff.
Once approved, another meeting will be arranged between the foster parent and adopter wherein the adoption fee is collected and contracts are signed. The foster animal then goes to its new forever home and, after the adopters are given a week-long trial period, the adoption is finalized. Check out some of our amazing success stories!
A Diamond in the Ruff volunteer will contact the adoptive family after 72 hours to see how everyone is settling in as well as answer any questions.
After the week trial period is up, we will deposit the adoption fee and distribute the animals vet records and microchip information in a timely fashion.
Please keep in mind, Diamond In The Ruff is a 100% volunteer run organization and we will process your applications as fast as possible. If you have any questions about your application, contact our Application Coordinator at applications@diamondpetrescue.org.
If you have questions about an animal’s vet records, please contact our Healthcare Coordinator at healthcare@diamondpetrescue.org.
