Sunshine Canyon Dog Rescue

Dog rescue in Denver, CO

Sunshine Canyon Dog Rescue's mission is to rescue at risk dogs in high kill shelters. We work with shelters & volunteers all over the U.S. to give these amazing creatures a second chance at life. All of us at SCDR work very hard to find committed, loving & safe homes for our dogs. We DO NOT have a facility for you to visit our dogs. All of SCDR's dogs are in foster homes throughout Colorado.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process - PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING!

Please note that we rarely adopt of out state. If you are inquiring from out of state please email us before taking the time to complete our adoption application.

- Complete our adoption application.
- Email your finished application to sunshinecanyondr@gmail.com. Please put the dogs name in the subject line.
- Be patient & understanding. It may take a couple days for us to go through your application & get back to you. We are dedicated to finding the right home for each dog. The dog you are interested in might not be a good fit for you but that doesn't mean its the end of the road. We will work to find you a compatible dog!
- Upon approval we will discuss details of pick up & follow up care.
- Because the majority of our dogs come from out of state; most of our adoptions are done before you meet the dog. We make up for this by doing a mandatory 1 week foster period. We treat it like an adoption (w/ contract & payment) but you have a week to make sure its a good fit. If you decide within in the foster period that you are not compatible, we will reimburse your adoption fee. All we ask is that you continue to foster until we can find a forever home. Our adopters often say that our foster period is much better than a pressured 15 minute meet n greet in a shelter. We cover most medical costs within this week period.
- After the week period we are still a resource for you! We are always happy to help from training to kinds of dog food, we are here for you.
