Rome Floyd County Humane Society

Cat shelter in Rome, GA

The Rome Floyd County Humane Society is a non-profit, all volunteer, community based animal welfare organization. We support a No Kill policy. Although we are not an animal shelter; as a collection of volunteers, we do rescue, foster and adopt as many death row animals as we can, though space is very limited. All of our rescues are cared for by volunteers in their homes.

The Rome Floyd Humane Society receives no government funding or funds from any national animal welfare organization. We depend solely on the generosity of individual and corporate donors and supporters to fund our programs and services. We provide puppy vaccinations to Floyd County animal control, and services such as low cost spaying and neutering, assistance with emergency veterinary care, education programs, Trap Neuter Release (TNR) programs, and a pet food pantry for the pets of the less fortunate residents of Rome and Floyd County.

Additional adoption info

To adopt a pet from the Humane Society, you must be at least 18 years old. To begin the adoption process, you will need to contact us to fill out an adoption application.

Once you fill out an application, it will be processed and read as soon as possible and an RFHS representative will contact you. We may ask for vet references and to do a homecheck prior to the adoption.

All adoptable animals are fully vetted including spay/neuter and are current on all shots. Their fosters work with them to ensure their health and to determine the individual pet's temperament.

The adoption fees for these pets vary. These fees help offset the veterinarian bills for each particular animal, so that the Society can continue to bring these pets into our homes.
