Union County Animal Services and the Animal Shelter are operated by the Union Co. Sheriff's Office under the direction of Sheriff Eddie Cathey. Our shelter director is Lt. Lynn Yow.
Our animal control officers are sworn law enforcement officers. The shelter is operated by civilian staff and many volunteers.
We accept donations of used towels, blue Dawn dish detergent, pet toys, pet food, pet treats, and other items that can possibly be used at our shelter.

We are the only shelter in Union County, NC. We offer same day adoptions. We also work closely with rescue organizations that pull some of our animals that may have health or other issues that we are not set up to address.

Our adoption fee is $85.00 per animal. We offer same day adoptions.
Puppy/Dog: Includes: 1st DHPP, basic deworming, one dose of Frontline (controls one month of fleas/ticks), heartworm check on all dogs over 4 months old, Bordetella vaccine (to prevent kennel cough). Rabies vaccines are given to dogs 12 weeks and older. Physical exam by participating vet, and spay/neuter.
Cat / Kitten: Includes: 1st FVRCP, basic deworming, one dose of Frontline (controls one month of fleas/ticks), feline leukemia/aids check. Rabies vaccines are given to cats 12 weeks and older. Physical exam by participating vet, and spay/neuter.
