Our Mission Statement
All of us at Oakdale Equine Rescue are in this for one thing and one thing only, our love for these beautiful equines. All over the United States and abroad these animals are faced with unknown fate. They are either part of a family, sold for slaughter, unwanted, neglected, or their owners have fallen into hard times and can no longer care for them.
Oakdale Equine rescue was established in October of 2010 to provide a safe and happy environment for these equines in need. Many times these horses come to rescues due to abuse and neglect, that’s what all of us at Oakdale Equine Rescue are passionate about giving these special horses a safe haven even for just a short stay until we find them a forever loving home.
This is our mission:
A. Assist animal control officers in seizing, adopting and fostering horses:
B. Rehabilitate neglected and or abused horses:
C. Educating the public with horse care and management:
D. Help Equine owners place horses in time of need:
E. Help place equines into forever homes:
F. Be available to other equine rescues:
G. To encourage the public to get involved by stopping all animal neglect and abuse:
There are so many positive avenues Oakdale Equine Rescue can offer and with our dedicated board of directors we will make life kinder, happier, healthier and secure for these wonderful equines.
We are a 501c3 Organization
This rescue doesn’t have any adoptable pets right now – check out adoptable pets nearby or start a custom pet search below.
We provide homes for horses of all needs. Families that have fallen into hard times and can no longer care for their horse. We assist several surrounding Animal Control Counties and shelters that have taken severely abused and neglected horses out of harms way and we rehabilitate them so they are able to be places up for adoption. We do not send any of our horses to auction, they will remain with us until a sanctuary or retirement home is available for those which are harder to place. We provide training for young and old horses that come through. Several well know trainers have come through for OER and we are very appreciative. We offer a discounted rate to families who have to make a hard decision to euthanize their horse. We educate youth and adults on proper equine care including medical, dental, hoof, diet and training.
Additional adoption info
We require anyone that would like to meet or adopt one of our equines to fill out a adoption application and agreement first and be approved. We ask for two referrals, if you own horses or have owned horses in the past we ask for your equine veterinarian and farrier. If you are a first time horse owner and have small animals we ask for an employer and small animal veterinarian. If you have never owned a pet there is always a first! We ask for a neighbor and the trainer/person who will be assisting you with the horse.
