The programs would serve the entire island of Martha’s Vineyard. The towns are Chilmark, Edgartown, Aquinnah, Menemsha, Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven and West Tisbury. The total population of year round residents is 55,000. MVHHA has made itself available to seasonal residents as well as the Cape. Mostly we have dealt with year round residents. We pull from high kill shelters to help with rescuing and providing a safe environment until they are adopted
Additional adoption info
Potential adopters fill out adoption forms. Animals are shown to the adopters. MVHHA calls the references and makes home visits . During this time we encourage the potential adopters to revisit and start to bond with the animal of interest. The animal has to spayed and neutered before leaving the shelter or foster home. Once everything has been approved then the adopters fill out a contract with MVHHA. Our adoption fees for cats/kittens is $125 and for dogs instate is $225/ out of state is $450
