A few years ago it became apparent that the feral cat population in our subdivision was out of control. Some people were beginning to attempt to reduce the population through lethal means. One woman began a TNR program to help get the population under control. Over 50 cats have been spayed/neutered. In 2012, mainly through the efforts of one individual over 70 kittens were rescued and removed from our subdivision. In 2013 we officially became Cape Kitty Rescue and are a 501(c)3 charitable organization. We exist through donations. We maintain a communal colony of spayed/neutered feral cats, called Cape Kitty Village, supported by the community. As our feral cat population came under control, we began to reach out to the community to reduce the cat population in our community. We have been fortunate to obtain some grants to make this possible. Working through our local veterinarian, we provide reduced price spay and neuter to low income individuals. In addition, we offer assistance and support to individuals who support small groups of feral cats on their own property. Our goal is 0 population growth in the feral community, with the ultimate goal of reducing the number of free roaming cats in our community..

Additional adoption info
Most of the animals we adopt out are young kittens. We require an application with an agreement that the cat will be spayed/neutered at age 6 months or sooner. Kittens will have had health checks and shots started. We require a $50 deposit refundable on proof of sterilization. We request an adoption donation of $20. We do not allow renters in our
subdivision and do not place kittens in homes with dog breeds generally considered vicious. The number of pets in a home is also evaluated. We prefer a vet reference.
