Happy Cat Sanctuary began in 2007 and officially filed nonprofit status in 2012. We have approximately 300 cats in our free-roaming, cage-free sanctuary in Suffolk County, New York. We specialize in saving cats from terrible situations such as hoarding, abuse, and neglect. With a large selection of adoptable cats at our sanctuary, ranging in breed, age, and personality, we know you'll find the best cat for you and your family!

Additional adoption info
In order to make sure that you are matched with the right pet, we thoroughly review all of our potential adopters. Step 1: Submit application (no fee) and provide past experience with cats, how you plan to finance the costs associated with having a cat, and two non-family references who can attest to your character. Step 2: One of our volunteers will review your application and schedule a home visit to assess your living conditions and other pets. Home visits are mandatory, no exceptions. We will bring the cat you are interested in to the home visit for you to meet. Step 3: If you are approved, a non-refundable adoption fee of $100 is required to finalize the adoption. **RETURN POLICY** We understand that things don't always go as planned with new pets. If, after 3 months, you are still having problems with your new cat adjusting to your home, you can return your cat to Happy Cat, no questions asked. (Note: no refunds of the adoption fee). At that point we can help you find a different cat from our sanctuary who might be a better fit for you, if you wish.
