Rescue Rowan is a small, growing foster network in Rowan County NC (Salisbury and surrounding area)
We generally act as a middle man of sorts, pulling, getting vetted and transporting animals from our local high kill shelter to approved rescues in the mid west and north east.. Occasionally, a rescue asks us to pull an animal and then for one reason or another, is not able to fulfill their obligation to the animal (usually monetary or health related issues and no fault of the animals)
Other times, we see an animal that is about to be PTS who is extraordinary but has been looked over by the rescues for some reason but we cannot let them die so we pull them and continue trying to find a home or rescue for them. Still others were intercepted in the shelter parking lot as they were about to be surrendered. Those are the animals posted here as available :)

We also intercept pets that are shelter bound to try to save them the stress of shelter life.
We have regular transport by ourselves to the following locations:
Washington, DC
Columbus, Ohio
Lafayette, Indiana
Chicago, Illinois

Anywhere in NC, northern SC or southern VA is also an option.

Adoption fees and process updated 5-24-15:
We strive to find the best fit possible for all of the animals in our care.
1) We have an application (http://form.jotform.us/form/51517033860147), adoption contract and would do a home visit. The home visit is just to see where the pet would be living, not a white glove inspection by any means! We want our pets to have a good home and be loved, we are easy going people and not difficult to deal with at all :)
2) When adopted at an age too young for altering, adopters will get a voucher they can use to bring the pet to us on one of our vet days (Thursdays) and the pet would ride with us to our vet for altering. We get a special deal at our vet and will not be able to reimburse the charge for altering at your regular vet (which is enormous at most local vets). Pets adopted out before age of altering and are not altered by a certain date may be confiscated. Along with rehoming homeless pets, one of our main goals is lowering the intake rate at our local shelter; unaltered pets contribute to this epidemic and this will not be permitted on our watch. If you do not agree with this, please do not pursue adoption with us.
3) If you would prefer to have your new pet altered at your own vet, at your own expense, you are more than welcome to do so. We require proof of alteration before the deadline on your adoption contract and no refund of any part of your adoption fee will be given. Those funds will be added to our community spay/neuter fund and we thank you very much for helping us combat the homeless animal epidemic in Rowan County.
4) All adoption fees include a small donation to our community Spay/Neuter fund which we use to get the mama of puppies and kittens we take in altered (if known and the owner agrees) and we also offer to help the mama of puppies being given away on the yard sale pages if there is enough in our fund.
5) Our adoption fees reflect our actual costs in getting a pet ready for a home and do not include food, crates and other expenses which we pay ourselves or rely on other private donations to cover. Thank you for understanding why we must charge a fee.
