You can meet our adoptable cats and kittens by appointment with pre-approved adoption application. To start the adoption process, complete and submit Monroe SPCA’s adoption application linked below.
Adopting an Animal from Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center
The Process for Meeting and/or Adopting an Animal at Monroe SPCA’s Adoption Center: Prospective adopters will need to complete the following four (4) steps in order to meet and adopt one of our companion animals at our adoption center.
Step One: Review Adoption Policies.
Step Two: Fill-out and submit one of our Adoption Applications for the animal you wish to adopt.
After we receive the application, we will:
1. Review your application to make certain the information is complete.
2. Contact your references and conduct a veterinary check.
3. Contact you with any follow up questions.
4. Pre-approve your application.
You will need to provide us with a copy of your driver’s license or proof of residence, and if applicable, written proof that you are permitted to own/have the pet you wish to adopt on the premises where you reside.
Step Three: Once your application is pre-approved, we will schedule an appointment for you to visit our adoption center to meet the animal or animals you're interested in adopting.
Step Four: Provided the adoption is approved, we will schedule a home visit (video call) and a foster-to-adopt contract will need to be completed and a non-refundable adoption fee accepted.
All members of your household must meet the animal or animals you wish to adopt at our adoption center. If you already have a dog or dogs in the household, we will require a meet-n-greet at our adoption center with all canine members who currently reside in the household prior to adoption approval.

Adopting an Animal from a Monroe SPCA Foster Home
The Process for Meeting and/or Adopting an Animal Residing in a Monroe SPCA Foster Home: Prospective adopters will need to complete the following four (4) steps in order to meet and adopt one of our companion animals in a foster home.
Step One: Review Adoption Policies.
Step Two: Fill-out and submit one of our Adoption Applications for the animal or animals you wish to adopt.
Once we receive the application, we will:
1. Review your application to make certain the information is complete.
2. Contact your references and conduct a veterinary check.
3. Contact you with any follow up questions.
4. Pre-approve your application.
Step Three: Schedule a meeting (meet-n-greet) with you, household family members, and pets so you can meet the animal you are interested in adopting.
You will need to bring your driver’s license or proof of residence to this meeting, and if applicable, written proof that you are permitted to own/have the pet you wish to adopt on the premises where you reside.
Step Four: Provided the meeting goes well and the adoption is approved, we will schedule a home visit (video call) and a foster-to-adopt contract will need to be completed and a non-refundable adoption fee accepted.
All members of the household must be present for at least one of the meetings. If you already have a dog or dogs in the household, we will require a meet-n-greet with all canine members who currently reside in the household.
Once we receive your application, we will review it and call you to conduct a phone screening and schedule a meeting within two (2) to three (3) business days.
