many Jacks can be hard work for the average dog owner.
Why a Jack ?
Because a good Jack is a joy for many many years. A good Jack is smart and funny and fiercely loyal. He will walk through fire for you, or cross raging torrents balanced on a slippery log or scale sheer rock faces - just for you. He will grab the spaghetti sauce pan by the handle and carry it carefully, without spilling a drop, to a lair under a chair where he can safely consume it. And then at the end of a hard day, he will burrow in under the blankets, tuck himself up tight against your side and make you laugh. There is no better dog than a good Jack. (Especially when he is good and tired.)

Jack Russell Rescue OWII was inaugurated in 2006 to help Jack Russell terriers in need of new homes. We have placed over 400 dogs in new terrier-appropriate homes since our inception. We function as a regional rescue for the Pacific Northwest states and have our own 501(c)3 status.
All of our 'staff' are unpaid volunteers. We do not have a central 'shelter'. The dogs who are in foster care live in the homes of our volunteers.
Additional adoption info
All adopters need to fill out an adoption application. It does not have to be for a specific dog - we will hold the application on file if it is approved until the right match can be found. Please give us as much information as you can when completing the adoption application. The more we know about your dog experience & lifestyle, the more likely we will be able to find the perfect match for you.
If your application is approved by our adoption coordinator and either the dog's foster or the dog's owner, a meet will be set up. If the meet goes well, the dog will go home with you. You will fill out and sign an adoption contract that we will hold for the duration of the two week trial period. Most dogs take about five days to adjust to a new environment, so after the two week trial period, both you and the dog should know if this is going to be a good match.
All the Jacks we have in rescue are neutered or spayed, and you will be provided with vaccination records at the time of adoption. Our adoption fees range from zero (in some very special cases) to $200. per dog. All adoption fees are tax deductible, and all adoption fees go back to rescue to cover spaying/neutering, vaccinations, chipping & other veterinary expenses for the dogs.
