Ridge Rescue Society

Animal rescue in milk river, AB

The president has been involved in rescue for 22 years; this is a life passion, and life imagined any other way it's not possible.
All animals go to the main location (acreage) prior for a minimum 2 week assessment prior to being available to transfer to foster homes or up for adoption.
Each animal receives basic vet care (vaccines, deworming, altering) upon arrival. Once this is completed our animals are then ready to be placed in foster home. If the dog is too young for spay/neuter this is the only vetting that may not be completed prior to foster placement/adoption.

Rescue FAQs

Milk River, Coutts, Stirling, Raymond, Magrath, Taber, Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton, Medicine Hat and all other areas in between are the main areas, but do accept animals, space permitting across Canada.

Additional adoption info

Adoption application in full must be submitted as first step. We check 3 references (not family members) and vet reference. We then do a meet and greet with all family members, if there are other pets in the home we have a meeting outside of the home first (for dogs) to gauge initial reactions of the dogs.
We complete home visits after an approved adoption within the first 2 years - up to 4 per year. Our mandate is that the animal must be returned to RRS if the family can no longer care for him/her. Adoption fee is charged and a contract is signed to finalize adoption.
