ROMP Italian Greyhound Rescue

Dog rescue in Chicago, IL

Rescue Our Mill Pups (ROMP) is a private rescue organization located in Chicago. We are a 100% no-kill, 100% volunteer run, 100% foster home based, 100% donation funded rescue group whose goal is to rescue as many otherwise 'discarded' dogs from puppy mills as possible, freeing them from the mill cycle and finding loving forever homes for each one. We also rescue dogs from kill shelters, those relinquished by their owners and strays.

No dog should spend its life living in a mill - especially not Italian Greyhounds who are among those who fare the worst under such conditions due to their soft, sweet dispositions and need to bond with their very own human companion. While our focus is Italian Greyhounds, you may see other breeds represented among our adoptable dogs from time to time simply because we could not leave them behind. While mill life is horrid, the dogs in those mills are not. They can be some of the sweetest, most loving dogs around. Please consider giving one a chance to live a normal, happy life.

Rescue FAQs

We primarily work with people in the Chicagoland area and parts of Indiana and Wisconsin. However, we have made exceptions for foster families and forever families in the past so please contact us if you find yourself with a strong connection to one of our rescued pups!

Additional adoption info

Italian Greyhounds are not for everyone. Please do your research before making the decision to make one a part of your family. If you feel that an IG would complement your lifestyle and that you could provide your IG with the patience and love it deserves, see the application link: Adoption Application

Our adoption process consists of completing a questionnaire, reference checks, home visit, adoption contract and adoption fee (typically $250-350). Our rescues are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations upon adoption. If you have any other questions, see our adoption FAQ's
