Wisconsin Border Collie Rescue

Dog rescue in Wauwatosa, WI

We are a group of volunteers dedicating part of our lives to helping this misunderstood breed find the perfect home. Many people do not research breeds, and then they cannot keep up with the dog, or the dog gets destructive out of boredom. We always say, "When you get a Border Collie, your lifestyle is changed." This breed is incredibly smart and can easily trick people into getting what the dog wants. We educate people about this throughout the adoption process. We're quite picky, especially if you've never had a Border Collie before. This breed needs a job, not just physical exercise. Jobs can be anything from performing lots of tricks, having the dog retrieve toys by name, herding, agility, flyball, tracking/search and rescue, dock diving, competitive disc, treibball, scent work, rally, etc. Only our own members can foster dogs, so the foster homes know our process and rules well.

Additional adoption info

$250 minimum adoption fee. Our process takes about a month.
All potential adopters must fill out our online form at
http://wibordercollierescue.org/?page_id=201
Then if we approve of the application, we will check your references, then after those are approved, we will do a home visit, and if that is approved, THEN you would drive to the foster home to meet the dog. The dog is not adopted out this same day, because the board must approve the match. If approved, you would drive out to the foster home to fill out the contract and take your new dog to his/her forever home.
