Rescue FAQs

PawsWatch is a group of volunteers that provides veterinary care and shelter to improve the lives of feral and unowned cats. Founded in 1997, PawsWatch is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Pawswatch has provided veterinary care to more than 13,000 cats as of 2011. Before the inception of PawsWatch, the life of cats found living in colonies in Rhode Island neighborhoods was bleak -- having to fight the elements of nature, living and reproducing in starvation and squalor, and often facing poisoning or mass roundup for death. Our goal is not to personally help every feral cat, but to teach Rhode Islanders to help the cats in their own neighborhoods. There is new hope for feral and unowned cats through a new approach called TNRM which is proving to be a better way to treat this once condemned population. PawsWatch is part of a large and growing grassroots effort to transform "street cats" into healthy managed colonies, which decline through attrition. We provide resources, equipment, and guidance to make this goal possible. We believe that lasting change can come only from a widespread foundation of community involvement.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. We try to post videos for each pet so you can really get to know them. If you would like to find out more please email or call Diane at... diane@ulpr.org or 870-577-3744. Meet Haumea – The Heart You Don’t Want to Overlook Haumea may not turn every head at first glance. She’s not the kind of dog most people would call “fancy,” and she doesn’t need to be. Her beauty lives deeper — in her eyes, in her steady presence, and in the gentle joy that radiates from her heart. If you pause for just a moment and truly look at her, you’ll see it — the quiet grace of a soul that’s pure, loyal, and endlessly loving. Haumea stays right by your side, as if she’s always known that companionship is life’s greatest gift. Her heart is joy in its most honest form. She gives it freely and asks for nothing more than a place to belong. Whoever looks past the surface and chooses this beautiful girl will gain more than a dog — they’ll gain comfort, laughter, and a love so constant it will change their days forever. Adopting Haumea won’t just be a good decision. It will be the best one you ever make. Please email us at diane@ulpr.org and request an application. She's the perfect companion for someone who appreciates a mellow and gentle friend. Fern has experience with dogs, and would likely do well with a calmer/older dog if she were to live with one. While Fern requires some special medical care, her affectionate demeanor makes it all worthwhile. Feel free to reach out to us to learn more about what care we are providing for her. Adopting Fern means gaining a loyal friend who will cherish every moment with you. Let Fern bring warmth and love into your home! If you are interested in Fern, please call us here at (401)846-8276.
