Tri-State Bloodhound Rescue Inc. (TBSR) is registered in the State of Texas as a non-profit corporation. TBSR consists of a network of highly qualified volunteers with years of experience with bloodhounds. They live throughout the Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana area. Our volunteers donate their homes, money, time and concern simply for
the love of the rescues. The members of TBSR are dedicated to helping bloodhounds who are homeless strays, owner turn-ins or find themselves in need of a new home for whatever reason.
Educating the public about the pros and cons of the bloodhound breed is another priority. Bloodhounds are a special breed and are not for everyone. We are strong advocates of spay/neuter programs. All other dogs and cats in the adoptive home must be spayed or neutered unless there is a verifiable reason for them not to be altered.
All rescues are placed in foster homes are routinely provided proper vaccinations, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and, given monthly heartworm prevention. They are also micro-chipped. Any injuries or obvious health conditions are also addressed. If the dog is heartworm positive, this treatment is scheduled per the recommendation of the attending veterinarian. The TBSR foster evaluates the temperament of each rescue. It is our goal to determine if the bloodhound exhibits normal bloodhound behavior and will co-exist well with adults, children, other bloodhounds and possibly cats.
Matching the right bloodhound with the right home is our goal. TBSR utilizes our collective experience and knowledge of both the bloodhound and the prospective future home in order to make the best placement possible. All bloodhounds are evaluated for their potential in Search and Rescue work. If the bloodhound possesses the right attributes for SAR, we then try to place the bloodhound in a working home.
TSBR offers it support and advice on issues of behavior, health and training before and after adoption. We routinely do follow-ups after adoption to ensure that all if going well.
