Purrin' Fur is a non-profit association focused on the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of homeless cats in Owen County, KY. We help dogs only if an extreme need arises (there is another organization in our county focused on dog rescue). We are in desperate need of foster homes. When we don't have an open foster home, we cannot accept cats in to our rescue; this unfortunately means they miss their chance at a better life and remain a statistic with an uncertain future. Owen County does not have a shelter for cats, nor an animal control policy or officer in place to help stray cats. That means that the cats fend for themselves and many times are killed by citizens who lack compassion for them because there is no where for them to go except to continue to roam the streets until they meet their fate. Purrin' Fur was founded by a concerned couple who diligently attempts to enlist other caring individuals to expand their rescue efforts. Please consider making a monetary donation or contacting Purrin' Fur about volunteer and foster opportunities if you would like to become part of the solution in Owen County. Thank you for your support!

We rescue within: Owen County, KY 40359.
We cannot guarantee acceptance of your cat(s) &/or stray cats, as we are limited in foster homes and funds. We advocate spay/neuter and help connect everyone willing to spay/neuter their pets to affordable &/or sponsored options.
If you are a potential adopter for one of our animals (good references/approved adoption application), we will bring the animal for a home visit, no matter the distance!
Our animals have found their forever homes in: Cincinnati, OH; Louisville, KY; London, KY; and places in between. We will go where the home is, in county or out of state!
(Please note: We only do home visits in pairs and have strict safety measures in place to prevent situations that could bring harm to our animals &/or ourselves. If you have poor intentions, please know you are "barking" up the wrong tree... pun intended).
Additional adoption info
Adoption Process:
Applicant completes/submits an adoption application for review.
Adoption Counselor schedules a brief home visit, bringing the animal to the approved applicants home to meet the family and existing animals in the home.
Approved adopters sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
Approved adopter takes legal/physical possession of their new pet.
Adoption Counselor follows-up 1 week later, by phone call or other method adopter requests, to find out how family and pets are adapting and to provide any additional support needed/requested.
Please Note: We strive to make the adoption process a smooth, positive experience for everyone involved, with the ultimate goal of matching good people to good pets. We make every effort to place our animals in forever homes where they are considered part of their adoptive family, not just an object under-foot. We'd hate to see them back out on the street, injured or dead because we failed to take the extra steps to insure their safety. Please be honest and open during the adoption process; this helps us to help you find the best match for your family and reduces the chance of an animal "not working out".
