Rescue The Cats

Cat rescue in Jersey City, NJ

RescueTheCats finds new homes for stray and homeless cats and kittens rescued from the streets of Bayonne, Jersey City, and Hoboken, New Jersey.

RescueTheCats is a small rescue which closely monitors our foster cats and kittens for any sign of disease or other issues that would affect their adoption. All our fosters have received veterinary care including vaccinations and been tested for FIV and FeLV. At the appropriate age, our foster cats and kittens are spayed or neutered.

RescueTheCats encourages and practices "TNR" which means we "Trap, Neuter and Release" feral cats that are not adoptable. The purpose of TNR is to help reduce the number of homeless cats.

Additional adoption info

At RescueTheCats, we are believe in responsible adoptions. A cat is a longtime commitment and an adoption should not be entered into lightly. You should also be prepared to provide quality food and veterinary care for your cat over his or her life.

We require an application form and references from anyone wishing to adopt one of our rescues. We also do a "home visit" to see that the cat is going to a safe environment. We give advice to make the adoption process more positive for the cat you are adopting. Typically, we provide a two week trial period for the cat to live in their new home before making the adoption official to ensure there is a good fit between the cat and the adopter(s).

In finding adoptive homes for our cats and kittens, we try to give our clients an accurate description of their temperament and habits to help them choose the best cat or kitten for their lifestyle.
