Two Dog Farms, Inc.

Dog rescue in Los Angeles, CA

We are a small organization, based in Northern Nevada, active in the rescue and rehoming of abandoned, surrendered, abused or neglected dogs from the Urgent and Euthanization Lists of High-Kill Shelters across the USA.

The vast majority of Korean Jindos appear in the shelters around Los Angeles, and Southern California, so our work tends to be concentrated in these geographical areas.

As a rescue organization, we work to pull dogs from the shelters, or receive them through private surrenders, and then either place them in private foster homes or, if no other options are available, board them until such time as an approved forever home can be found for them. We try to place dogs in foster homes close to our base in Northern Nevada, but, with the help of our volunteers, also place dogs in foster homes closer to the location of their shelter.

All dogs are neutered or spayed, and provided with medical care. All dogs are shown compassion and love. We also provide dogs with training if necessary to aid in their rehabilitation before adoption.

Our main interest is the Korean Jindo Dog, and we hope that with our knowledge and experience of this breed, we can help educate the public to understand and appreciate this ancient breed to the fullest!

(We have recently filed for 501c3 status, but are already registered as a Domestic Non-Profit Corporation in the State of Nevada).

Rescue FAQs

As a rescue organization, we work to pull dogs from the shelters, or receive them through private surrenders, and then either place them in private foster homes or, if no other options are available, board them until such time as an approved forever home can be found for them. We try to place dogs in foster homes close to our base in Northern Nevada, but, with the help of our volunteers, also place dogs in foster homes closer to the location of their shelter from time to time. Currently we are working to pull the vast majority of dogs from shelters in the LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA area, so most of our dogs are in foster homes in this area.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our adoptable animals, please email us and we will forward you an adoption application form.

We will respond to all applications by email within 48 hours to confirm receipt, and then one of our volunteers will contact the applicant by telephone or email to discuss the application further. If we deem the dog you are interested in is not a potential fit, then we will offer suggestions to other dogs that we may have in our care currently.

Once your application has been processed and approved, you will be required to come and meet the dog you are interested in adopting/fostering.

If this initial meeting goes well, then we would schedule a home visit with you, at which time all family members and pets should be present.

If the dog is a good match for you, then your application will be approved and the final step is for you to complete the appropriate contract, and pay the required fee (for adoptions only).

Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under the age of 5 years, and $250 for dogs over the age of 5 years. These fees help us to recover some of the costs associated with rescuing/caring for these dogs, e.g. spaying/neutering, vaccinations and prophylactics (heartworm, flea, tick), micro-chipping, general health checks, training etc.

Please note: We require a Surrender Deposit of $350 for all dogs, regardless of age, at time of adoption.
This deposit will only be cashed if an adopter surrenders an animal within 90 days of the adoption date.
The $350.00 surrender fee is a deposit that we take but only cash in the event of the dog being surrendered within the first 90 days of adoption.
On the 91st day, we either mail you the check back, or rip it up, depending on your preference.
The need for this fee is borne out of necessity and experience: dogs surrendered back within a short period of time almost always require remedial training to get them back on an even keel, as a short term adoption can be very disruptive to them, and unfortunately with training and boarding fees (in the event that a foster cannot be found at that time) being what they are, it has become a necessary part of cost recovery.
Again, we only cash the check in the event of surrender within the first 90 days of the adoption date.

All adopted dogs come with leash and collar, as well as a name tag.

We also provide you with an 'adoption package' which includes detailed notes re how to to help your rescue dog adjust to his/her new home, training tips and a music CD (courtesy of "Through a Dog's Ear") which can be a useful tool in helping your new dog feel relaxed in his/her new environment.

We are always available, by email and by telephone, to discuss and offer any assistance we can during the post adoption period.
Adoptions out-of-state are accepted.

Thank you for considering one of our wonderful animals!
