Cat rescue in Chicago, IL

Chicago Cat Rescue is dedicated to helping animals in need, and to the education of their human companions. Chicago Cat Rescue is an all volunteer, foster based, licensed rescue organization. We rely on and are indebted to compassionate individuals in our community to foster our cats until they find their forever homes.

Chicago Cat Rescue is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization, and all donations are tax deductible under the law.

Chicago Cat Rescue is entirely foster based; all of our rescued cats reside in private foster homes until they find their homes-for-life. Foster homes make a great scenario for adopters to meet and mingle with your potential furry family members. A private home setting brings out the best in our animals, and helps you gain an accurate understanding of their personalities and the qualities that make each animal unique. Each of our foster families is committed to offering you a flexible schedule, to accommodate your visits to their homes. We're proud of the dedication of our volunteers!

Additional adoption info

Why adopt from a foster based organization? Every animal is unique, and because our cats and kittens are cared for in private homes, we feel we truly get to know what makes each of our cats so special. We rely on our foster families to educate us about the personalities and temperaments of the cats in their care. Is their foster cat outgoing or chill? High energy or more sedentary? In need of a feline companion, or happier to be the queen of the castle? We learn so much about our cats, and we are able to share all that information with you! Armed with this knowledge, we feel we are uniquely able to help you find your furry soul mates!

Sadly, there is a limited amount of information that can be learned about animals living in cages. When you visit our cats and kittens in their loving foster homes, you'll be privy to a wealth of information, that can only be acquired through the experience of living with a furry companion. Our foster parents are truly the "experts" on our cats and kittens!

Our adoption process: In order to find the best homes for the cats and kittens in our care, and the best matches for you and your family, CCR offers a thorough adoption process. We are dedicated to the ideal of a "forever home" for each of our cats, and we endeavor to make that ideal a reality. "Same day adoptions" don't give anyone time to prepare for a 15-20 year commitment! Our process is designed to help you find felines who are well suited to your home and life style, and to arm you with the information you will need to both welcome your new pets into your home, and to care for them., By carefully laying this groundwork, we help ensure that our cats do, indeed, find their "forever homes".

Step 1. Call or email us, to learn more about the CCR cats and kittens who have peaked your curiosity! Of course, we'll have questions for you too! Our conversations enable us to get to know you, and to help us understand the qualities and traits that are important to you, as you seek your new furry family members.

CCR's minimum adoption age is 25, although we occasionally make exceptions for individuals in their earlier twenties, who are working full time.

Step 2. We'll put you in touch with our foster parents, so that you can make arrangements directly with them, to meet their foster kitties. All of CCR's foster homes are located in Chicago.
.
Step 3. We'll want to hear about your visits with our cats, and once you've found the cat(s) of your dreams, we'll ask you to complete an adoption application and contract. A representative from Chicago Cat Rescue will process your application (usually within 2 business days). This period of time is also your opportunity to prepare your home for your new pets! After your application is approved, we'll make a plan with you, to deliver your cat(s) to your home. Last minute questions are always welcome!

When you adopt from Chicago Cat Rescue, you not only gain the unconditional love of your new furry family members. You also gain the perpetual support of a group of caring individuals, who are committed to you and your new companions' ongoing happiness.

Our adoption fee is $150 per cat or kitten, to help defray our costs. All of our kitties have been combo-tested for FeLV/FIV, spayed or neutered, vaccinated as needed, micro-chipped and dewormed, as well as provided any other medical care that may have been required.
