The Roswell Humane Society Thrift Store has served Roswell since 1979 at their present location. The kennels were established in 1981 at the same location. The kennels have facilities for 60 dogs and puppies and 20 cats and kittens.
Adoption rate for the kennels is 90%+. Over ten (10) million abandoned and unwanted pets are euthanized yearly in the United States. There are no numbers available on the number of pets abandoned, killed on highways, die of starvation, neglect and in laboratories. For every animal purchased from a breeder, one will die in a shelter. Neutering and spaying helps reduce the tremendous burden created by overpopulation. Educating the public on responsible pet ownership is another way to help prevent pets from entering a shelter situation.
The society is supported largely by its Thrift Shop and donations of various kinds. Don't forget the animals when you clean out you closets. We can always use household items, clothing, etc. Sales from the Thrift Shop, along with the continued generosity from individual donations, support our Kennel. We receive NO funding from any federal, state, county or city entity. We solely depend on you - our caring supporters! We make NO money on adoptions, as we get billed more than what we charge the public in vet fees.

Then, adopters MUST pre-pay a Roswell vet for a discounted cost of spay/neuter, and then present us with the receipt. We, then, make the appt. at that vet and the adopter can pick up their adopted pet from the vet AFTER the surgery.
Adopters MUST have a completely fenced in yard(height depends on dog) in order to adopt any dog--no exceptions. We do check.
All cats and kittens adopted MUST live as strictly indoor cats.
