Cats 1st is dedicated to the humane care and management of feral and abandoned cats. Our members have extensive knowledge and deep compassion for these felines.

Organized for charitable and educational purposes, Cats 1st educates the public about feral and abandoned cats; humanely traps, neuters and medically clears feral cats and abandoned domestic cats; humanely resolves issues arising between property owners and unwanted cats; and educates the public about the value of spaying and neutering cats.

It is the Mission of Cats 1st –

To develop and administer community-based efforts in southeastern New Hampshire to educate the public about feral and abandoned cats.

To humanely trap, neuter, medically clear and return feral cats to their original territories with food, shelter and continued care whenever possible thereby reducing the number of unwanted cats in New Hampshire.

To humanely trap, neuter and medically clear abandoned domestic cats and place them in Cats 1st-approved foster care or permanent homes.

To humanely resolve issues arising between unwanted cats and property owners.

Rescue FAQs

Cats 1st will travel anywhere in NH to trap, neuter, release feral or stray cats resources permitting. For adoption of kittens please complete the adoption application and make an appointment. We are currently serving, or have served in the past the following NH towns for feral cat rescue.
Newfields, Exeter, Newmarket, Stratham, Dover, Lee, Madbury, Rochester, Portsmouth, Kingston, East Kingston, Brentwood, Raymond, Epping, Barrington, Greenland, Seabrook, Kensington, Rye, Nottingham, South Hampton, Newton, Fremont, Danville.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fee for kittens is $175

An application is required before first visit to view cats/kittens. Please fill out and submit the application on our website Cats1st.org.

IMPORTANT NOTES TO APPLICANT

Cats 1st reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone, for any reason and at any time during the adoption process.

Cats1st makes every effort to ensure its cats and kittens are adopted to safe, caring and responsible homes. Inaccurate, misleading or false information will result in application denial.

If for any reason you are unable to keep your Cats 1st cat or kitten, you agree to return the animal to Cats 1st unharmed and without any financial obligation on Cats 1st's part.
