We all work full time jobs and do this in addition to these jobs for the love of the breeds. BSRO pays for all medical expenses and all we ask the foster home to do is provide love and food. We are funded strictly on donations. Being non-profit, these donations are tax deductible. Foster homes treat the foster dog as one of their own so that the dog learns how to be with a family and so that we know the dogs personality extremely well. We set a high standard for ourselves and expect the same from our adopters. Foster homes and knowledgeable on proper nutrition, behavior, and medical issues so that they can provide the best recovery and rehab for there foster dog possible. Along with the best medical care, we feed one of the best foods, Fromm pet foods, to our personal and foster dogs. Boxer/Schnauzer Rescue of the Ozarks is a breed specific rescue assisting boxers and all sizes of schnauzers in Missouri. We are state licensed, 501 (3)c and state nonprofit. For the most current list of our available dogs please visit www.bsro.org We function first as a support system to shelters, animal controls and humane societies taking our breeds at their request to make room for more animals. All of our boxers and schnauzers are spayed/neutered prior to placement (no exceptions), given rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella, flu, and lepto vaccines, micrchipped, placed on heartworm, flea and tick prevention, groomed, teeth cleaned if needed, house trained, crated trained and given some basic obedience. Other medical issues will be addressed if needed. Our dogs live strictly in private homes so that they learn to be part of a family. Adopting from us is not just getting a great new member of the family but also getting a great new big group of friends.
We are members of the American Boxer Rescue Association, Midwest Boxer Rescues, recommended by the American Miniature Schnauzer Club and work with the Standard Schnauzer Club of America.
Additional adoption info
The first step is to fill out an application. For a boxer you need to visit www.midwestboxerrescues.com and for schnauzers you need to email us. Once the application is received, we will contact you to arrange a home visit. No visits, unless at a meet-n-greet, will be allowed with a dog until the application is received and a home visit is done. This is to protect the privacy and security of our foster homes. During the home visit, we will sit down with you and the members of your family to see what you are looking for and wanting in a dog so we can best match you with one in our program that fits this criteria. After this is done, arrangements will be made with you and the foster home to visit the dog in the foster home so you can see the true comfortable personality of the dog.
We can only do placements where we have volunteers to do home visits. We cover most of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa.
