Kittytracks operates Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) programs for cat colonies in the Philadelphia, PA region. TNR is the most effective and humane way to manage cat colonies as new births are prevented through spay/neuter and gradually decrease in size due to attrition.
The plight of all these outdoor cats is just about everywhere. Females reproduce frequently and easily, but many of the kittens die. Born in the wild, those that make it become feral, unsocialized and afraid of humans. We track those cats down, wrangle them up and make sure they don't reproduce again. Volunteers for Kittytracks provide food, water and shelter. Injured cats are taken off the street and receive veterinary care.
Though many of the cats we catch are feral, there are many that are what we call "friendlies." They are the abandoned and neglected pets or the kittens that somebody has been feeding, and they don't belong in the street but in a home. We take them off the street, fix them up and set them on a better path. Those are the cats you will find for adoption at Kittytracks.

Additional adoption info
We match all cats to their adopters using a questionnaire. It is available in both electronic and paper versions. Approved adopters sign a contract and pay an adoption fee which covers the spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea treatment, worming and microchip. All adoptable cats have tested negative for feline aids and leukemia unless otherwise indicated. Approved adopters must own a cat carrier.
