CENTRAL OHIO SHELTIE RESCUE, INC.

Dog rescue in COLUMBUS, OH

Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc. got its start during the Search and Recovery for a sheltie named Knight during the fall of 2000. Since that time our rescue has successfully attracted a small corps of volunteers who aid the organization in finding foster homes and rehabilitating these animals and educating the public about this breed. COSR can be considered a rescue and a “sanctuary”. We do not euthanize dogs. We have also assisted in the recovery of several dogs. Our Mission is to save lives and to find loving homes for the animals we rescue. COSR has grown for 2 volunteers saving a few dogs to several volunteers saving a number of shelties. In 2000 COSR rescued 2-3 dogs. That number has increased to 30 or 40 a year. Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc. is a registered non-profit organization that has attained the 501(c) (3) charity status per the IRS code. We are dependent upon donations, fundraisers and adoption fees to finance all of our activities. All funds acquired by the rescue are used solely for the care and rehabilitation of the dogs. Every human involved is a volunteer. No salaries are paid. The most visible job of Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc. involves taking in shelties, rehabilitating them both medically and behaviorally before finding them a new “forever” home. All COSR dogs live in foster homes prior to adoption. We are very proud of our Seniors for Seniors program which places older dogs with senior citizens at a discounted rate. We also have a forever fosters program for hard to place dogs.

COSR is in need of loving families who would like to foster one of our beloved dogs. Please go to the website to fill out an application to foster. COSR, Inc. also needs volunteers for special events and fundraisers. It’s a great way to meet some of our dogs. Not ready to commit check out our website to see the numerous ways you can help our dogs. Monetary donations are always welcome to help with veterinary bill, food and care of our dogs. The COSR Inc. motto is "Help us Help them". The more help we recieve the more we can do for dogs.
