Rescue FAQs

Forgotten Felines is a non-profit organization established in 1997 by concerned Middle Keys citizens to help homeless and abandoned cats. Our primary goal is to trap, spay/neuter and treat homeless and abandoned cats.

During 2009, our veterinarian performed 422 spays and neuters on free roaming cats. One successful trapping trip yielded approximately 50 cats when Forgotten Felines dispatched 25 trappers into a low income housing project.

As of 2010, our volunteers have been feeding 33 cat colonies in the Middle Keys and since we monitor the size of the colonies on a daily basis, we have determined that Marathon is the location with the highest increase in cat population.

We spay/neuter as many homeless cats as our finances allow on a regular basis, and there is never a time when we have a surplus of money with no cats to fix.

Forgotten Felines volunteers feed over 500 homeless and abandoned cats everyday.
We are located in Marathon, Florida, and serve the Middle and part of the Lower Florida Keys from Islamorada to Big Pine Key.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are $30 for a short-hair cat or kitten; $50 for two (2) short-hair cats or kittens; $75 for one (1) long-hair or exotic cat or kitten and $100 for two (2) long hair or exoctic cats or kittens.

All of our cats and kittens go through a health check, up-to-date with vaccinations and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
