Toy Fox Terrier Rescue began as a rescue committee of the American Toy Fox Terrier Club, and over their initial ten years, would take in/adopt approximately four to five TFTs per year. ATFTC recommended we separate due to any potential liability involved in rescue, and we incorporated as a not-for-profit in 2009. We now operate as a 501(c)(3) small rescue comprised solely of volunteers, finding homes for about 25 dogs each year. We have formed relationships with many shelters in several states, to be notified if a TFT is in danger. The aging population with the economy has seen an incredible increase in dogs without homes, and an increase in owner surrenders.
Our love and experience in animal welfare gives us the energy to rescue, but never enough funds, for broken legs, luxating patellas, missing limbs, or the dentals which were never done. We need additional foster homes, volunteers to pull from kill shelters, and always, donations toward vet bills.

This is the national breed rescue for Toy Fox Terriers, registered or not. We also rescue, across the country, any small (under 20#) dog in danger who appears in photo or is described as a Toy Fox Terrier. We follow the standards set by the AKC and the UKC, but acknowledge most shelters do not correctly identify breeds, and therefore also work closely with RT, JRT, Chihuahua and small breed rescues.
Additional adoption info
Toy Fox Terriers are listed on Petfinder, as well as our website. There is an application (no fee), telephone interview, verification with veterinarian of record that all pets have been altered and are current on vaccinations as mandated in that jurisdiction. Home visits are done, unless we do not have anyone in the area, at which point photographs and/or videos are to be submitted. We require love, commitment and safety. Fees vary, since senior adopters or senior dogs are afforded a discount. As an organization, we want the dog placed in a loving home forever. Therefore, adoption donations are balanced by additional fundraising.
