Big Heart Rescue works within the Province of British Columbia with a special focus in remote First Nations communities. Communities we work with include Waglisla (Bella Bella), Shearwater, Bella Coola, Wuikinuxw (Oweekeno) and Klemtu on the Central Coast.
We are funded 100% by generous donations from community members and supporters with proceeds going directly to the care and rehabilitation of companions in need of medical intervention, training and re-homing.

The majority of the dogs for adoption are strays which come from small isolated First Nations communities on the Central Coast of British Columbia. Most of these areas do not have veterinarians so we strive to provide health care for them so they may live long happy lives with their families.
We adopt to residents living within a two hour driving distance of the Lower Mainland and Southern Vancouver Island. We cannot accept applications outside of Canada.
Additional adoption info
Our process requires a completed and accepted application, a home visit and an adoption contract. The adoption fee is due upon signing the adoption contract.
