Our Mission Statement
The Rainbow Ranch Project is a collective of four groups, each focused on a different aspect of the importance of the human-animal bond. The Rainbow Ranch itself, a one hundred and fifteen year old farm in Jefferson County Mo., is located just 25 miles outside of St. Louis. It is home not only to the Baker/Roach family and all their farm and private animals but, also offers sanctuary and forever homes to rescued or abandoned dogs, cats, chickens, birds, small animals and hoofed stock. The not-for-profit services at the ranch provide a unique networking method and systematic approach for their clients. Using a holistic approach to meet the needs of the animals and people in this area in a broad yet deliberate manner. Our mission is to create an atmosphere where humans and animals heal each other through education and compassion. The Rainbow Ranch itself acts as a bridge to bring together the ideals and methods of all our programs. Helping all who enter our gates respect the mission of the organization.
Recycling Rover Adoption Assistance, licensed by Missouri Department of Agriculture, is our rescue program. It offers the ability to house a limited number of stray, homeless and misplaced animals and recycles them through rehabilitation in foster homes, behavioral training and long term assistance. Recycling Rover works significantly to reduce the unnecessary disposal of pets in our region. We strive to match our pets with appropriate adoptive homes. Animal trainers, veterinarians, breed and grooming professionals, behaviorists and activists all volunteer their time with singular goal of creating and maintaining a meaningful human-animal bond relationship for our clients. We have successfully recycled rovers to find a fulfilling life working as service dogs, Police dogs, search and rescue dogs, Therapy dogs and in-prison programs.
Shelter Alliance is a small group of our volunteers who collect animal supplies which include food, toys, treats and other goodies. These supplies are then brought and stored at the Rainbow Ranch where they are then shared with other licensed pet shelters in need who have come from as far north as Minnesota and as far south as Florida. Shelter Alliance has also sent supplies overseas during the holidays to military service dogs. They donate to disaster areas and programs like Noah’s Wish and Missouri’s Homeward-bound prison training program. Smaller shelters in the area may pick up as much as once a month allowing them to spend their donations on veterinary care. With supplies being generously donated every month, Shelter Alliance is buying a portable storage shed to store supplies until a warehouse can be donated and built. All shelters, rescues and pounds with a current license are welcome to these free supplies. Shelter Alliance is helping to create a successful, working network of shelters and rescuers.
Paws for Applause is our community outreach program for volunteers working with 4-H programs, Scouts, Schools and other individuals who want to dedicate time to enriching the lives of humans and animals. Various ways that individuals can help is by working on landscaping the ranch grounds, walking or bathing dogs or brushing a cat, washing dog houses or cleaning dog runs. Paws for Applause is one of our most loved services by animals and people! Everyone helps with Fund Raisers and we always have a great time while helping the animals!
Temporary Home Foster Care is our foster care program that helps animals learn to live in a family home. Our foster families are screened and care for pets in their homes until they are adopted. Our foster homes are provided with vet care, food, toys, etc. This is a wonderful family project and a real eye opener for people about the difference fostering makes in their lives as well as preparing a pet for a forever home .
