Sanctuary One at Double Oak Farm is a nonprofit care farm where people, animals, and the earth work together for mutual healing.
Care farming (also known as green care, farm care, or farming for health), is well established in Europe, but is a relatively new concept in the United States.
Sanctuary One demonstrates how farming for health can be a cheap, natural, and effective means of healing people; how animals can be treated humanely and honored for their intrinsic physical and spiritual value; and how the environment that sustains us all can be steadily improved through organic and permaculture-inspired farming practices.

Primarily Southern Oregon and Northern California, although we are happy to consider adopting to people from other areas as well.
Additional adoption info
Most, but not all, of the Sanctuary's animals are available for adoption because the more animals we adopt out, the more endangered animals we can take in.
Every animal adopted from Sanctuary One comes with a lifetime promise. If something happens and you can no longer care for the animal you adopt, he or she is always welcome back at the Sanctuary.
Each animal available for adoption has been evaluated by a veterinarian and is current on vaccinations. They’ve also undergone a basic behavioral assessment and have had their diets evaluated and specialized as needed.
In addition, our staff provides free telephone/email counseling for all adopters. If you have any questions or concerns about your adopted animal, contact us and we'll do our very best to help you.
