Rescue FAQs

Barktown is a place that no matter how small, every life counts. We are here to give dogs a second chance to find the love they deserve. We are advocates for the outcast, a voice for the unwanted. We are a 100% volunteer based rescue; where we rescue because it is our passion, our mission to saves lives. This is not a job for us, but a need to help the helpless. If you are interested in volunteering for us and helping us out in the many areas we need volunteers, please email Nikki at nikki@barktownrescue.org for a volunteer application. There are many oppurtunities available!
Barktown Rescue is based out of Nelson County, Kentucky. We pull as many dogs as we can from 3 local high kill shelters. We work with the public to help them if they can no longer care for their dogs.

Additional adoption info

We do require an application to be completed. This can be completed at www.BarktownRescue.org. Once this is approved, we can set the applicant up with the foster to meet the dog. If the person decides to adopt at that point, we do have a contract that needs to be signed.

** Please note, it may take 2-3 business days for your application to be processed. Please let us know if you do not hear from us after that time period.
