History of Purr-fect Companions Sanctuary
In 2004, a call for help went out from an animal shelter in Cleveland, Ohio.
One person who answered the call is now the founder and Executive Director of Purrfect Companions Sanctuary. The owner of the previous shelter had taken in a very large number of cats from 2 separate hoarder homes in another county.
The cats had come from deplorable conditions and needed to be vaccinated, spayed or neutered. Some had been put in windowless rooms with only artificial light by day or in cages in a warehouse, sometimes two to a cage. They remained this way for well over a year.
When in 2006 the owner of that original shelter announced that her shelter would be closing and the city would take the cats, most likely to euthanize them, our founder and director rolled up her sleeves and went to work. A facility to comfortably house the cats was purchased which accommodated the needs of all the animals. In 2007 the cats moved into their new quarters at Purr-fect Companions Sanctuary.
Today a few of these same cats live with their many new friends who are also in need of their own “forever homes”. Either they live at the ‘home’ shelter which was designed for their comfort or they are fostered by very generous families who open their doors for these cats.
They are friendly, litter box trained, socialized and ready to move into your lap! They are ready to live the life they were always meant to live.
