APBF promotes responsible breed ownership through education, programming, and assistance.
One of our biggest goals is to help reduce the number of pets that end up at kill shelters due to neglect, abandonment, overpopulation, and irresponsible ownership. We work within the community to teach owners about compassion, nutrition, training, and turn negative activities with dogs into postive ones.
We support spay and neuter programs as well as other rescue organizations who serve a common purpose.

We are a Charlotte based nonprofit with foster parents in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. We are entirely foster based, so we do not have a facility for you to visit our dogs.
Additional adoption info
Our adoption process begins with our application which lists basic information and veterinary references. Once an application is approved, a home visit is conducted. If the potential adopters have not yet met the dog or puppy they are interested in, we will also schedule an interaction with the family, as well as any family pets. If the home visit and interaction go smoothly, an adoption contract is signed, the adoption fee is collected, and the new family begin exploring the benefits of the canine-human bond.
Our adoption fee is currently $300.00 for most dogs and puppies, however, may be subject to change based on professional training and/or medical assistance provided.
The fine Pit print: We do not adopt dogs into outdoor living situations.
All dogs and puppies must be spayed or neutered, (they are all rescues); no exceptions.
We reserve the right to deny adoption for any reason at any time.
Fighters need not apply; we screen thoroughly.
We adopt out to individuals who have experience with this breed. If a first time owner, or inexperienced, we ask that proof be provided of breed research with an explanation as to why a Pit Bull would be a good match to the particular lifestyle of the applicant.
We require that any adopted dog receive vaccinations and heartworm/flea prevention from a licensed veterinarian.
