Dog rescue in Yorkville, IL

We are a state licensed private foster based Not For Profit 501c3 group trying to reduce the number of adoptable dogs that are euthanized daily in shelters. Some of our dogs are fostered in other states and can be transported prior to adoption. We do not limit our adoptions to the Chicago area, but also surrounding states.

NEWS
Jellystone Bark's Rescue RANGERs have been rescuing animals since 2007. We have rescued over 85000 abused, neglected and homeless babies with the assistance of our Rescue Partners throughout the Midwest. Our goal is to assist animals in low/moderate income areas and various sources (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio) who have little or no hope of being rescued. We currently work with over 95 No Kill Shelters and Foster Based Rescues in the Midwest and are exclusive with many high kill shelters to save their babies.

WHO WE ARE
Jellystone Bark's Rescue RANGERs are a state licensed NO KILL Foster Based Rescue. We are a NOT FOR PROFIT (501c3). We are an all volunteer organization that spends every spare moment trying to save the abused, abandoned and forgotten ones and provide them with a second chance at a good life.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Rescue dogs are a friend for life. Before accepting any dog into your home please consider the emotional, as well as financial commitment necessary to give this pet a forever loving home. Please consider: Does everyone in the household agree to adding a pet? Can you afford the grooming, vetting, and training to help your new family member truly become a FOREVER member of your family?

Often times a rescued DOG brings along their "baggage", and with this are old injuries and lessons learned in a previous unfriendly world. Are you prepared to love your new dog unconditionally and help him forget his "woes"?

Dogs are loving and very social creatures. They do not make good outside family pets, they need, and want, to be a member of the inside "pack".

We are here to help you find the right, forever friend for you. It is important that we honestly assess each situation to find the perfect "love connection", both for the potential adopter and the dog.

We are searching for homes that are financially and emotionally able to commit 15+ years to our dogs through rough times, good times and all times. They are a part of your family and must be treated as such.

REMEMBER: Rescued animals are by no means perfect or show quality. They can be from various sources, bad breeding, unwanted, abandoned, untrained or aging. Rarely do we have a lot of background on our rescues but we know that they need love, patience, understanding and a commitment from you.

WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO

Until you have held a tiny puppy in your arms as it kissed your face with slobbery puppy breath and felt the love,

Until you have held a severely ill or injured dog in your arms and felt their pain,

and until you have looked into the eyes of a tired, aging senior dog and felt their wisdom, you will never understand the life of a rescuer.

We find beauty in the most incomprehensible places and the otherwise homely faces.

It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within.

We are rescue.

Kathie Sullivan-Parkes 2006

To My Foster

There I sat, alone and afraid
You got a call and came right to my aid.

You bundled me up with blankets and love.
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a hug.
I learned that the world was not all that scary and cold,
That sometimes there is someone to have and to hold.
You taught me what love is, you helped me to mend,
You loved me and healed me and became my friend.

And just when I thought you'd done all you do,
There came along not one new lesson, but two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, you're ready to go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I know".
Then you bundled me up with a blanket and kiss.
Along came a new family, they even have kids!
They took me to their home, forever to stay,
At first I thought you had sent me away.

Then that second lesson became perfectly clear.
No matter how far, you will always be near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know I've moved on,
I have a new home, with toys and a lawn.
But I'll never forget what I learned that first day,
You never really give your fosters away.

You gave me these thoughts to remember you by,
We may never meet again, and now I know why.
You'll remember I lived with you for a time,
I may not be yours, but you'll always be mine.

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application, vet reference and in some cases a home visit prior to meeting our available babies.

JBRR Requires our adopters to be at least 25 years old.

Because our adoptable animals come from various sources, we try our best to ensure that your new pet is healthy. Each animal is examined by a vet prior to adoption, however, there are some things that are out of our control. Most incubation periods for diseases can be between 2-10 days after exposure..eg. kennel cough. We will not transport or adopt out any animals showing signs of illness, but do keep in mind that they can become ill after wards. This is true of all animals, rather adopted from us, another rescue, shelter or pet store.

Pre-Adoptions/Reservations require that you put a deposit on your baby as we cannot hold any dog or puppy without a deposit. This is optional as long as you understand that by choosing not to do this the dog or puppy that you are requesting may or may not be available to you come time to finalize your adoption. This option ensures that you will be guaranteed the animal that you have chosen to adopt, it also ensures us that you are serious about adopting and will be there to provide your chosen baby with a forever home. THESE DEPOSITS/ADOPTION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE so please make sure that you are 100% sure that this is your lifelong choice.

The fees that we get from adopting out our fur babies immediately go back into saving/vetting other animals.

ADOPTING A FRIEND
If you are interested in adopting one of our fur babies please contact us at jbrescuerangers@yahoo.com for an adoption application. The adoption process is one all parties must take seriously. We work very hard to place the right animal in the right home and because of this, the process may take up to 48 hours from the time you submit your application. We do check references. Once your references are checked we move very quickly and you'll be notified right away. Most of our communication is done via email so please make sure you check your email account frequently and respond quickly. The adoption cost of your new pet may vary and it assists us in the rescue of another. This cost vastly outweighs, for the services received, retail veterinary costs for you. JBRR typically provides the following health care to our rescued babies: spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro chipped, fecal, heart worm tested if age appropriate, flea and tick prevented, dentals/extractions if needed, a free vet visit and low cost medical insurance.

DISCLAIMER: Approval of your adoption application is not a guarantee of availability of that particular animal. We receive multiple applications on each animal, so that we can make sure and match up the right dog with the right family. Unless you reserve/pre adopt the animal in which you are approved to adopt, we will not hold it if another adopter is approved and interested. Your approval notification means that you have been approved to adopt through our agency. Our adoptions fees are non-refundable.

DISCLAIMER: Most of our adoptable animals come from high kill shelters and various other sources. Occasionally we are given specific age and/or breed information on the animals, but more often, we have to make an educated guess as to age, breed or mixture thereof, based on size, color and physical characteristics. Because we are not breeders, but rescuers of societies cast off animals, we cannot guarantee the age or breed of the dogs we post for adoption. It is merely an educated guess.

TRANSPORTS: We DO NOT SHIP our DOGS to their forever homes. Most of our fosters are located in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. Transports are done weekly to the suburbs of Chicago which is where our adopters may pick up their new babies. BEFORE you apply, make certain you have the availability to travel to the Chicago area, to adopt your new family member.

We desperately need foster homes and volunteers to help us care for the homeless animals in our program.

*Volunteers and foster homes help us with animal care and socialization by providing positive interaction with the animals.

*Volunteers and foster homes also assist with transportation of animals to and from Vet visits.

Please help make a positive impact on the life of a homeless animal by volunteering!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Here in this house...

I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'. I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed. I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing when I will eat next. I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat. I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness, and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose. My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.

Here in this house... There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level. I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand, I can enjoy the warmth of the words. I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many. My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it!

Here in this house... I will never be a substitute for anything I am not. I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. I will be loved because I am who I am, not someones idea of who I should be.

I will never suffer for someones anger, impatience, or stupidity. I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all. If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame.

Here in this house... I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me. If I am ill, I will be doctored. If scared, I will be calmed. If sad, I will be cheered. No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and known to be of value. I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough.

My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought. I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.

Here in this house... I will belong. I will be home.

I ADOPTED YOUR DOG TODAY
I adopted your dog today. The one you left at the pound. The one you had for years and no longer wanted around.

I adopted your dog today. Do you know that he has lost weight? Do you know that he is scared and confused and has lost all faith?

I adopted your dog today. He had fleas and a cold. But do not worry none. You have unburdened your load.

I adopted your dog today. Were you having a baby or moving away? Did you suddenly develop allergies? Or another reason he could not stay?

I adopted your dog today. He does not play or eat much. He is very depressed now. But he will learn again to trust.

I adopted your dog today. And here he will stay. He has found his forever home. And a warm bed on which to lay.

I adopted your dog today. And I will give him all that he could need- Patience, love, security and understanding. Hopefully he will forget your selfish deed.
