Columbus Humane Society

Animal rescue in Wilmington, NC

We are a group of volunteers dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and permanent home for all companion animals. We believe that a world which shows empathy toward animals will show more compassion and tolerance toward each other.

We are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization funded through tax-deductible donations, by people like you. We do not operate a sheltering facility. Instead, we recruit foster parents who take dogs and cats, puppies and kittens into their private homes until permanent, forever homes are found.

Rescue FAQs

Since we do not have our own sheltering facility, we work out of volunteer foster homes in a multi-county area including Columbus, Bladen, Robeson and New Hanover Counties.

Additional adoption info

We have a variety of pets currently or soon-to-be available for adoption. Please view their pictures and biographies by clicking on the dog and cat tabs above. Each one is special, and each one truly deserves a good home.

All of the animals available for adoption have received a rabies vaccination as well as their first combination vaccination and have been spayed or neutered and dewormed. If appropriate they have received booster vaccinations as well. Our adoption fees are:

Kittens and Cats - $60
Puppies - $150
Dogs - $125

While we spend much more than this on our rescued animals, these fees give us some help in caring for all the animals which we keep until adopted.
