A Little About Ourselves

The Lakeside Veterinary Center is located in Laurel, Maryland. Our veterinarian, Jeffrey L. Rhody, DVM, has been practicing veterinary medicine for over twenty-five years. Here at Lakeside Veterinary Center, we treat more than just cats and dogs. We also treat small mammals (like ferrets, hamsters and rabbits), reptiles (such as turtles, snakes and lizards), birds (from parakeets to macaws), and many other species.

In July 2008, we started a small adoption program featuring mainly stray kittens in need of good homes. Since then with great pride, we have found many great homes (over 50!) for not just kittens, but the occasional parakeet and puppy. Due to the success of our program, we have been able to expand and even rescue several litters of kittens from local high-kill shelters.

Rescue FAQs

We are located in Laurel, Md in Prince George's county. We do not have any restrictions on where our adopter's live although all animals must be adopted out of and picked up at Lakeside Veterinary Center.

Additional adoption info

Please fill out an adoption application if you are interested in adopting any of our kittens! Completed applications may be emailed, faxed, or dropped off to Lakeside Veterinary Center.

Our kittens are typically NOT spayed or neutered at the time of adoption. We do not spay/ neuter our kittens before they are adopted because of the risk associated with the procedure at such a young age. Our adoption contract requires the kittens to be spayed/ neutered at approximately 6 to 9 months of age. The surgery cost is not included in our adoption fee.

Our adoption fee varies but typically is $45.

Adoption is not contingent upon patronizing Lakeside Veterinary Center for adoptee's health needs; however, all services performed at Lakeside Veterinary Center for our adoptees are discounted 10%.

Our adoption contract is available for you to review prior to adoption. Please feel free to email LakesideAdoptions@gmail.com with any questions you may have.
