The Mid-Atlantic GSP Rescue group covers the state of Maryland, Virginia and surrounding areas. We are a 501c3 non profit rescue dedicated to finding homes for German Shorthaired Pointers who have become homeless by no fault of their own. These rescues could be from animal shelters or turned in by owners. We take care of their needs on arrival and then place them in permanent loving homes. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, or in doing foster work for us, please e-mail us at Rescue E-Mail
Mid-Atlantic GSP Rescue, Inc is a 501c3 organization and your contribution is tax deductible. We will mail you a receipt for your donation.

Additional adoption info
People often ask us what the process is for adopting a GSP Rescue. So we thought we would list it here to answer some common questions.
First, every adopter must complete the Adoption Application listed on the page. This helps us to learn more about the adopter and to help match dogs to people.
Once an adopter is interested in a particular dog, a homecheck is performed. We only do them after there is specific interest because many times people will choose another breed or adopt from the shelter and we are a small rescue group handling a fairly large area. We don't want to drive all over doing homechecks just to do them when many times they aren't necessary.
Once the homecheck is complete the adopter can meet the dog if that wasn't done during the homecheck. Sometimes another volunteer is closer than the one who is fostering the dog the adopter is interested in. So it may not be the fosterer who performs the homecheck.
Almost always fencing is a requirement for a rescue dog. Most have had little to no training, yet they need exercise and a fenced yard is most practical. An untrained dog can simply dart off without proper containment.
We are not here to move dogs from A to B, we are here to help people and dogs find the right matches for a lifetime committment.
Rescue microchips each dog to the rescue and after a dog is adopted the new owner is added as a contact on the chip registration. The chip database allows us to add as many names as you would like, so if you'd like more contacts than the rescue and you, we will happily add those.
