Rescue FAQs

Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Ventura Counties.

Out of state adoptions: Require a very detailed application and digital pictures of your home, fencing and yard. Out of state adopters are required to pay the adoption fee, Health Certificate required by the airlines ($35), Crate ($100-200 depending on the size of the dog), and Airfare (varies depending on where you live, what airline you use, what day or/or time of the day the flight is).

Additional adoption info

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.

Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.

ADOPTION DAYS

If you have submitted an online application but have not been approved by our volunteer, please do NOT come down to meet dogs as we won't be able to show you any. No on-site screening at this time. Once approved and told to come meet dogs, we will be happy to help you.
