Illinois Equine Humane Center Mission Statement

To provide humane treatment and shelter while working as a clearinghouse to seek adoptive homes for all of Illinois’ unwanted equines, regardless of breed.

To educate the public and raise awareness for responsible equine ownership so that fewer horses end up in crisis.

The ILEHC requires all potential adoptors to have completed an adoption approval process. An Adoption Contract is also required of all approved adoptive homes.

The ILEHC charges a standard adoption fee of $500.00 per horse.
