HOPE is a Non-Profit pet rescue run exclusively by volunteers. Some of the dogs that come into our program are rescued from high kill shelters from out of state. New York State has a high adoption rate for abandoned dogs whereas States like Ohio, Kentucky and Georgia do not. Our local Shelters never euthanize healthy, adoptable dogs for over-crowding but many other States do and that is where we come in. If we receive a plea from these out of State shelters, we do our best to coordinate a transport and find foster homes so that these “highly adoptable” pets are not euthanized. In most cases, these dogs are completely vetted before crossing State lines! All of the dogs/cats that come into our rescue are examined by a Veterinarian, receive vaccinations, are checked and treated for any parasites and are spayed/neutered before being placed in approved homes. All of our rescued pets live comfortably in foster homes. Potential adopters are required to provide a Vet reference and meet HOPE requirements before adopting.
HOPE is committed to giving these precious
"throw-a-ways" a second chance at a great life.

Additional adoption info
The adoption process is quite simple.
If you are interested in one of our adoptable dogs or cats, simply fill out the adoption application. Once we receive that we forward it to the foster family that has that pet. They will then contact you and answer any questions and set up a visit for you to meet the pet. If after that visit you feel that the pet is a perfect fit for your family and your vet reference goes well we will bring the pet to your home to see how he/she does with other pets and family members. If it is still a perfect fit, we do the paperwork and finalize the adoption.
