The West Milford Animal Shelter is the only animal shelter in NJ that is operated completely by volunteers. All volunteers are members of the West Milford Animal Shelter Society (WMASS). WMASS volunteers donate over 1,200 hours per month at the facility and have established a trusting and caring environment for the 600-1,000 animals that arrive at our shelter each year. Our annual adoption rate is 80% (the national average rate is roughly 40% or less). We provide educational programs for community service groups, schools and clubs.
