Compassionate Pug Rescue Of South Florida

Dog rescue in Miami, FL

Compassionate Pug Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer run pug rescue organization based in South Florida. CPR accepts all pugs regardless of their condition, nurses them back to health and finds them a loving forever home.

The pugs brought into CPR's care have a variety of backgrounds. Some pugs are surrendered by their owners due to difficult family situations. Others have been severely neglected or make their way to CPR via Animal Control. Regardless of the past, all the dogs that are taken under CPR's wing have one thing in common - a bright future.

When CPR receives a new pug, he or she is immediately given a health screening. Any medical conditions discovered are quickly treated. Then each pug is carefully matched with a family that has filled out an extensive adoption application. Volunteers make sure that the lifestyle of each family fits the personality of the pug. After a suitable match is found, the pug is on its way to its new forever home and off to live the pampered life that every pug deserves.

Additional adoption info

1. Prospective adopters submit the adoption application. Please be patient! Keep in mind it is impossible fill each request as we receive so many applications. We do have a wait list but each application is evaluated and we try to find the best suited match for your family. Do you have room in your home and schedule for a pug? If you live alone and work 12-hour shifts, the answer is no. Isolation only leads to behavioral problems and usually results in a dog being returned. Is your home appropriate for a pug? Air conditioning is a necessity, as is a safe area for playing outdoors. These issues and others are considered when we go over your application. The information we get from you will also help determine what type of Pug would be best for your household, an active dog or a more laid back one, a male or female. The sex of your dog can depend on other pets in the home.

2. A CPR rep will contact you and perform a home evaluation. This is a requirement for all adoptions. We have to see the environment the dog will be living in. No exceptions. Once your home evaluation is completed you’ll be eligible for adoption.

3. CPR will notify you when we find your pug match. Because rescue is so unpredictable, it’s not possible to give you an arrival date. For example, if you have a male dog that is male dog aggressive and need to adopt a female, we can’t always know when you can expect your dog to come home.

4. Welcome home! You, your new pug, and a representative of CPR meet. At that time the adoption contract is signed and you pay the adoption fee. We turn over the medical records and prescriptions (if any) and go over the current schedule, diet and so forth. You and your new buddy are on your way home.
