Rescue FAQs

Boxers and Buddies Boxer Rescue is a nonprofit organization founded in 2005. Our parent organization (the well-known Boxer Rescue Los Angeles (Boxer Rescue Fund Inc.), was founded in 1977 out of love and fierce determination by Ursula Sauthier. Today, Boxers and Buddies provides a safe, humane sanctuary for abandoned Boxers and others who are waiting to be adopted. Boxers and Buddies is funded solely by private donation. Our entire organization is run by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our group works for the love of the breed and to see dogs find homes. Our available dogs come from local shelters, from the streets or from owners who turn them in. We are always filled to capacity with scared, confused and very stressed out dogs. They are with us because Boxers and Buddies is their last hope of finding a new life. We are their temporary haven until they are adopted into a loving permanent home. Before they can be adopted, each dog is evaluated for temperament, must be sterilized, microchipped and their shots are updated. Boxers and Buddies has a training program for those dogs who need rehabilitation or have behaviors which need to be modified. Boxers and Buddies and Boxer Rescue LA stand apart from other rescues by rescuing any Boxer, regardless of age or health. We feel that they are all worthy of a real chance at life. This policy means that we are subject to frequent and expensive veterinarian costs. Medical expenses are only one of the major cost Boxers and Buddies has to pay each year. The cost are endless: food, shelter fees, medical bills and the costs go on and on. Saving lives is not cheap but someone has to do it! We are constantly seeking funds and support. We need your help. We depend on our donors and our volunteers to keep B&B open to any Boxer in need. We appreciate your compassion by including a rescue Boxer into your life. Please spread the word and continue to support our efforts.
We adopt our dogs to Northern Nevada and Northern California - every where within a 4 hour radius from Reno, NV

Additional adoption info

Adoption Requirements:

• You must be 21 years of age

• All current pets in the household MUST be spayed/neutered and current on shots (yes, we do call and verify this information)

• We do not place female boxers with other female boxers

• We do not adopt out dogs as gifts

• All pets are family companions!

Adoption Process:

Step 1: Find a dog you're interested in. Browse our available dogs

Step 2: Fill out the on-line application. This preliminary application gives us basic information regarding you, your family and your home, so we can help match you to the right dog.

Step 3: Wait to hear back from a volunteer. Remember - all of our staff are volunteers. We do our best to review your application with you within 48 hours, however, there are occasional emergencies, set-backs and other obsticles in our way. Please be patient - we WILL contact you

Step 4: Meet the dog. If your application matches the dog you're interested in, we will set up a time for you to come meet your potential new family member. We would like every member of your household - including the four legged ones - to meet your new potenial family member to make sure everyone gets along!

Step 5: Homecheck: We want to make sure our dogs are entering an enviornment that is safe and secure, and that all members of the family are ready and eager for this new responsibility. We also want to make sure the dog you have chosen gets along well with your current family members - both human and other pets.

Step 6: Congratulations! You have a new family member and have given a wonderful dog a forever home

All adoption donations include a comprehensive health exam, current vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip/registration fees, socialization, and temperament tests.

Please remember that the adoption donation is not for the purchase of a dog, but rather to cover the medical cost of all dogs in our care.

Adoption Fees : $300 - $500
