We are a private, federally registered, non-profit organization that is headquartered and operated from our homes. Working with a staff of foster care providers, we rescue dogs that are ill, injured, maimed, abandoned or simply unwanted. The dogs we rescue are obtained from the various animal shelters in the area, as well as those animals given up by private citizens.
We hold adoption clinics weekly at various PetSmart centers in the area. Although we specialize in American Pit Bull and American Staffordshire Terriers, all dogs in need are accepted, treated as necessary, and adopted to private homes.
Prospective adopters are carefully screened and must submit to required home checks for a period of one year, allowing us to be sure that the dogs we adopt are placed in safe loving homes. To protect our dog friends we take their care and placement very seriously and our adoption contracts carefully protect the animal’s rights to a happy life, providing for monetary and legal protection in case of mistreatment or neglect. Every animal we adopt out we expect to be cared for as a family member not just a pet.
Valley of the Sun Dog Rescue was founded in Sept 2000 to help match deserving dogs with loving families. We depend on community support 100%.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible.
All breeds accepted, specializing in American Pit Bull Terriers & American Staffordshire Terriers

Additional adoption info
We do have an adoption fee for each dog. We have a contract for each adopter. For our pit bulls, we require the adopter to own their own home. We do not do same sex adoption, due to future dominance issues that may occur. We also do home visits within the first year of owning the dog.
