We are a group of volunteers that love the Breed! We have seen so many of the GWP's simply thrown away when they do not hunt through the ignorance of those training. These are NOT outdoor Kennel dogs! This breed has specific needs and must be inside with their people. We do what we do to save those adoptable dogs that have been cast out due to divorce, new baby, allergies, ect. Our dogs are not for everyone. They are very active, love their daily walks, love car rides and mental stimulation of training in obedience, flyball, agility. They need homes that are active, loving, and have experience with a hunting dog breed. We do not adopt to hunters, unless in the rare instance one comes along with experience in the field. Even those dogs will not be adopted out to homes with outdoor kennels. These dogs are housedogs that would require a soft doggie bed/crate/ and loads of attention and obedience. They thrive on it!

German Wirehaired Pointer rescue is a Non-Profit shelter/fosterhome network dedicated to helping German Wirehaired pointers in need. While we are a small group, and not of unlimited resources, we do the best we can to help dogs across the country. We are based out of Kansas with foster homes in several states. We are an independent organization tha holds a Shelter license with the state of Kansas, and not affiliated with any Breed Club or group. Our mission is solely to rescue!
Additional adoption info
Our dogs receive very good medical care. Our fees usually run around 250.00-300.00. We spay/neuter all pets before placing them into homes, they are current on all shots, on heartworm preventative and frontlined. They are always clean and groomed....and live "inside" the fosterhome to guage behaviors within the home. They are crate trained, leash trained, and we do our best to evaluate personalities to fit the dog to the home.
