Canine Compassion is a specialized rescue group of volunteers dedicated to the medical and behavioral needs of each dog we take in. Our members are located throughout the greater Brazos and Grimes County, Texas area.
The dogs this group takes in are fostered in our homes. They are loved just like our own dogs because they are our dogs until we determine the best match for a dog’s unique personality, size, and energy level.
As soon as a dog is rescued by us, they are immediately seen by one of our vets. All medical needs are addressed ASAP. Every dog is altered (spayed or neutered), heartworm tested (treated if positive), and tested for parasites.
We put our dogs on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Medical care is kept current for every dog. Our dogs are groomed on a regular basis, socialized with people, other dogs and tested for cat tolerance as well.

This rescue doesn’t have any adoptable pets right now – check out adoptable pets nearby or start a custom pet search below.
We serve Brazos & Grimes County, Texas and the surrounding areas. While most of our adoptions happen in and around the Brazos County area, we also adopt out to the state of Texas as a whole. Out of state adoptions are only done on a case by case, very limited basis.
Additional adoption info
Please e-mail us at caninecompassion@yahoo.com to ask us for an application for the specific dog you are interested in meeting and / or adopting.
Once an application is received, the vet's reference is checked. A home visit by one of our volunteers is also required.
The final step is the signing of the adoption contract. The adopters are required to make an appointment with their vet for a "meet and greet" just to establish the new dog with their own vet.
We will only place our dogs with the people who we determine to best match our dogs’ sizes, personalities, and energy levels.
Adoption fees vary depending on the amount of the veterinary care that was required to get the dog to an adoptable state.
