Paul WarnerRescue in Paris, IL, is located about 65 miles south of Champaign-Urbana and 15 miles from the Indiana state line. A three year old 501(c)(3) charity, we are a network of volunteers and foster homes specifically for those dogs whose costly veterinary care, rehabilitation, or age makes them poor candidates for finding a home quickly. These are dogs who would ordinarily "fall through the cracks" in many shelters. Our dogs are the victims of abuse, neglect and injury. Since we lack funds, we can only accept a small number of dogs at a time. Paul Warner Rescue coordinates rescue efforts with the city police, county animal control, three veterinarians, and the Edgar County Humane Association. Our webpage is at www.paulwarnerrescue.com. Please visit the Happy Tales page to share a few of our successes.
Before dogs can be placed into foster homes, they receive vaccinations, internal parasite treatments, flea treatments, and heartworm tests. They may require a lengthy stay during treatment for heartworms, skin
or intestinal parasites, transfusion, and surgery. These dogs have come into our care with ingrown collars, bloody bald bodies, entropic eyelashes, broken or crushed limbs, and other horrifying conditions. We are a no-kill shelter and there is no time limit imposed upon any animal's recovery and adoption. 2. Pre-adoption spay-neuter
Each and every dog is neutered before going to its new home. We use the veterinarian that gives us the best price for quality work. Early spay/neuter is available for young dogs.
Paul Warner Rescue realizes that the only way to improve the quality of life for pets is to educate young people and get them involved in animal welfare. Last year, volunteers were able to reach out to students at two elementary schools and a middle school, bringing rescued dogs and guest speakers into classrooms. One sponsored an after-school Pet Club.
Paul Warner Rescue believes that together we all can offer help for the helpless, hope for the hopeless and homes for the homeless.

Additional adoption info
People interested in one of our dogs fill out an application. After checking your veterinary reference ,our adoption manager calls and sets up an appointment during which you can meet the dog. Our dogs are generally adopted for a nonrefundable $150 fee. The adopter signs a contract pledging to give their new pet proper shelter, food, water, veterinary care, and attention. If the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must be returned to Paul Warner Rescue. we reserve the right to refuse to adopt to any person for any reason. Paul Warner Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization, run by working and retired people. Please be patient.
