Additional adoption info
If you see an animal you are interested in, please call the shelter at 973-694-0767 for more information, or email us at animalshelter@waynetownship.com. We require that each potential adopter is first approved to adopt by filling out a 2 page adoption application form, which is then reviewed, and either approved or rejected.
While this process may seem cumbersome, it is necessary to ensure that each animal we adopt out goes to a permanent, loving, stable home that is suited to the unique needs of both the animals and their guardians. As "matchmakers" for pets and guardians, we want to ensure that our matches last!
If you are approved for adoption, there is an adoption fee for cats and dogs that ranges from $50.00 to $250.00, depending on what expenses the shelter has incurred on the animal's behalf. Reptile, small mammal, and bird adoption fees start at $25.00.
If the animal is not already neutered, there is a $50.00 alter deposit, refundable within 6 months upon providing proof to the shelter that the animal was altered. There is also a $50.00 medical deposit, refundable within 6 months upon providing proof to the shelter that you have taken the animal for it's first vet visit, including all required vaccinations.
