Rescue FAQs

PC Pound Puppies is made up of a small group of volunteers in Southwestern Indiana who work with Posey County Animal Control and the City of Mt. Vernon Animal Control to find homes for dogs after their 10-day holding period is over. Our dogs are typically picked up as strays by Animal Control officers.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of an adoption application followed by an interview. Upon arriving at the shelter, each dog receives a Bordetella shot, DHPPC vaccination and worming. At the veterinarian's office, our dogs receive a rabies vaccination, a spay or neuter surgery, and are tested for heartworm. If a dog tests positive, we treat the dog and then retest to confirm that the treatment was successful. Additionally, our dogs are microchipped before going home with their new family. Adoption fees are $85 and help to cover the cost of vetting.
