I do not operate a "shelter" and do not take in cats from people. My main focus is spay/neuter of feral cats and getting kittens out of the feral colonies and into homes.
Through volunteering for the Feral Cat Coalition in San Diego (BTW we need volunteers! http://www.feralcat.com) trying to get homeless and wild cats spayed and neutered, I come across many wild kittens young enough to be completely tamed and already-tame but abandoned cats. I will take that cat in if she or he is adoptable, has no caretaker already, and I have room. If he or she needs vet care I will obtain that from a licensed veterinarian. I handle the cat a lot and give him or her medications. I get rid of any parasites the cat is carrying, test for FIV/FeLV, and give the FVRCP vaccinations (the most important vaccinations). I find out all about the cat's personality and how he or she gets along with people and other cats. Then I post a page advertising the cat up here to find her or him a home.

Additional adoption info
E-mail me with any questions. I will ask you questions too. Then come see the cat. If you do fall in love and decide to adopt her or him, you fill out the standard pet adoption application. I will evaluate it to find out whether the cat will have a safe, permanent home with his or her specific needs being met. Once I approve the application, you sign the standard adoption agreement (requirements: do not declaw, provide vet care, return to me if you give up ownership, and allow 1 or 2 visitations to ensure the agreement is fulfilled) and pay the fee. Then you take the cat home and hopefully live happily with your cat companion for many years to come.
